Reed calls herself an avid roller skate enthusiast who started her professional career as an accountant. After a few years, she started thinking about opening her own business. She officially created Galaxy Skate as a business in May of 2024 as an online store and offering skating lessons, she said.
Galaxy Skate offers roller skating, mixing in nostalgia with old and new music and a disco ball in the middle of the skating rink. Skaters can choose either traditional skates with four wheels or inline skates.
Galaxy Skate offers adult night skating on Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., according to a Facebook post.
The location was formerly SkateTown, a business that operated in Grapevine from 1997 until closing in 2021. Reed has been renovating the building since Aug. 23 and she initially planned to open in October, according to previous reporting.
The revamped location features an arcade, VR rooms, karaoke rooms and a soft play area to complement the skating experience, according to its website.
