SkateTown, a family-owned and -operated roller rink, will be closing later this month after 24 years of business in Grapevine.

The skate center’s owners, Mike and Kathy Vouklizas, made the announcement on SkateTown’s Facebook page that they sold the property, located at 2330 William D. Tate Ave., Grapevine, to pursue retirement.

The post said the rink will close the evening of Aug. 21 for the final time. The roller rink opened in June 1997.

“We are excited to retire while we can still enjoy it, but it was a hard decision while our skating business is going so good,” Kathy Vouklizas told Community Impact Newspaper. “We will miss all the friends we have made along the way.”

According to SkateTown’s website, all regular skating times, prices, classes and birthday parties will remain the same through Aug. 21. 817-329-9988 www.skatetown.net
