Frisco ISD’s reduced-speed zones will look a little different once school starts in August.

Frisco City Council members approved an updated list of all FISD school zones for the 2023-24 school year during their July 3 meeting. The updates include adding, modifying or removing the locations and times the reduced speed is applied across the district.

What you need to know

One of the biggest changes was updating the zones to include FISD’s newest campus, Wilkinson Middle School, which is set to open in August. Here is a sample of what it will look like:
  • Panther High School’s existing school zone will be expanded to incorporate the new campus.
    • The expansion will stretch the school zone into a portion of Championship Drive and Dakotah Drive, according to meeting documents.
Other notable changes included moving the school zones for Gunstream Elementary School and Wester Middle School.
  • The zones now end at a recently installed traffic signal at the Coit Road and Cano Road intersection, according to meeting documents.
Wortham Intermediate School is also opening in August but was not mentioned in the updates.
