The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees approved the district’s 2025-26 compensation plan, which includes pay increases for teachers and staff, at a June 16 meeting.

The plan was approved with a unanimous vote, with President Sam Slaton abstaining.

The specifics

The cost of the compensation plan will not exceed $2.5 million and includes staff and employees not on the teacher pay scale.

The pay increases are based on approval of funding provided by House Bill 2, which was passed by the 89th Texas Legislature.

According to the compensation plan, the salary increases will be:
  • $2,100 increase for classroom teachers who have completed 0-2 years
  • $2,500 increase for classroom teachers who have completed 3-5 years
  • $5,000 increase for classroom teachers with more than 5 completed years of experience
Currently, the starting pay for new teachers is $59,300. Teachers who start next school year will receive a salary of $61,400, or a 3.5% increase. Staff members who spend 4 or more instructional hours in a classroom will be compensated on the same scale as teachers. Employees whose roles are not tied to the teacher pay scale will receive a 3.5% increase of the midpoint of their pay grade.

What they’re saying

Trustee Josh Westrom said the budget allocation isn’t just about giving personal raises, but it would enhance teacher quality of life.

“I’m all for it,” he said.

Superintendent Courtney Carpenter thanked the board for approving the motion.

“I know our staff will be very excited and we’ll get that message out to them as soon as possible,” she said.

What's next?

According to a presentation, AISD staff predict a budget surplus of $1.6 million for fiscal year 2025-26. Board members will discuss the proposed budget at the July 22 meeting.
