FM 2499 is still closed due to flooding.[/caption]

Texas Department of Transportation crews are monitoring the flooding of FM 2499, which has caused drivers that normally commute on the road to take detours.

Michael Peters,TxDOT public information officer, said TxDOT will reopen the road as soon as the water recedes.

"We are monitoring the road around the clock," he said. "The water is going down, but slowly. We don't anticipate any damages to the road, but we will do a quick inspection before allowing motorists to travel on it."

The FM 2499 bridge over Denton Creek from Grapevine Mills Boulevard up to Spinks Road has been closed since June 18 because of the rising levels of Lake Grapevine.

"The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public," Peters said.
