Parents, students and community members will have an opportunity to give input regarding the draft attendance zones for new Frisco ISD schools opening in 2016.

FISD board of trustees will hold a regular board meeting at 5:45 p.m. Nov. 9 at the FISD Administration Building at 5515 Ohio Drive.

The board will discuss the draft attendance zones for Miller Elementary School, Vaughn Elementary School, Nelson Middle School and Lebanon Trail High School. The opening of the new schools will also require modifying zones of Comstock and Ashley Elementary Schools.

The district unveiled the plans for the new attendance zones on Oct. 19. About 3,000 students could be affected by the new changes.

In a rezoning forum held in September, FISD Superintendent Jeremy Lyon recapped details of the rezoning process and stated that there is no other district in Texas experiencing the growth that FISD is experiencing.

In the past 20 years, on average FISD opens three to four schools a year and remains one of the fastest growing school districts in the state and nation, Lyon said.
