A cart manufacturer will collect any left over trash and recycling containers from Community Waste Disposal starting July 30. All of the containers should be removed within 10 to 14 days.

City officials recommend that any residents with leftover carts should leave them on the curb for collection. City workers have been in the process of replacing the CWD containers with carts from Progressive Waste Solutions, the city's new waste collector.

Progressive was scheduled to begin service Aug. 1 when CWD's contract was up, but the city ended the contract early after residents experienced pickup delays from CWD. Environmental Services Manager Jeremy Starritt said CWD faced a shortage of drivers, which led to the pickup delays.

In a press release, the city apologized for the delayed service and container removal, but appreciates residents' understanding during the process.
