Pollo Tropical announced Monday the planned closure of 30 restaurants in Texas, Tennessee and Georgia. These closures include all Dallas-Fort Worth locations, according to Pollo Tropical’s parent company Fiesta Restaurant Group.

Pollo Tropical had locations at 11440 Dallas Parkway, Frisco, and 1016 Preston Road, Plano. These closures are effective immediately.

The closures are part of the company’s “initial steps in its plan to drive long-term value creation,” according to a statement from Fiesta Restaurant Group, which also owns Taco Cabana.

“While the decision to close restaurants is never easy, we believe it is vital to focus the company’s resources and efforts on markets and locations that have proven successful for our brands,” Fiesta President and CEO Richard Stockinger said in a statement. “At the same time, retaining 19 Pollo Tropical restaurants in Atlanta and south Texas will provide us a low-risk opportunity to refine and test our long-term growth potential.”

The Fiesta Restaurant Group intends to re-launch the Pollo Tropical brand in September followed by the re-launch of the Taco Cabana brand. The company also announced up to five closed restaurants may be rebranded as Taco Cabana.
