• OHAN The Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods discussed the Lantana IV development, the Oak Hill Parkway project and more at its most recent monthly meeting.[/caption]

    Members of the Oak Hill Association of Neighborhoods, or OHAN, met Wednesday to discuss a range of topics, including the progress of the Oak Hill Parkway study. According to OHAN President Darryl Pruett, the association will refine and present the resolution it adopted two years ago outlining recommendations for the parkway's design and construction at an upcoming community input meeting. The event, hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation and the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, will take place May 23 at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church.

  • Several city of Austin transportation projects are currently underway or recently completed in Southwest Austin, according to a recent newsletter from Austin City Council Member Ann Kitchen to her constituents in District 5. Opportunities for public input on ongoing projects are also available.

  • Travis County Commissioners have identified new revenue streams for its criminal justice programs recently defunded by Gov. Greg Abbott. All programs are set to continue through Monday, at which time the county's Planning Budget Office said a new long-term solution must be identified for the next fiscal year.



  • Bowie Two options have been identified for the full modernization of Bowie High School.[/caption]

    Several comprehensive school improvement projects have recently begun in Southwest Austin as part of Austin ISD's updated Facility Master Plan. Some of the projects, however, could be postponed or eliminated in order to reduce the cost of a bond package voters could be asked to approve in November. Trustees are expected to call for a bond election in June.

  • The first of three open houses for the development of Corridor Mobility Reports for Slaughter Lane, William Cannon Drive and Brodie lane will be hosted next week. On Thursday at Langford Elementary School, the city of Austin's transportation department will seek input on priorities and concerns regarding transportation and mobility along these roads. The public is encouraged to attend.
