    There's now a map that will let travelers know when to avoid I-35. Launched by the Texas Department of Transportation, the new site, www.My35Construction.com, includes details on upcoming lane closures, traffic incidents and travel delays in Hays, Travis and Williamson counties.

    The Hays County Commissioners Court voted last Tuesday to extend the hours of operation at Jacob’s Well Natural Area in Wimberley. Additionally, the swimming season, which previously ran from Memorial Day until Labor Day, will now be extended from May 1-Oct. 1.

  • The Austin Police Department will now strictly enforce parking laws at the Pennybacker Bridge due to increased dangers stemming from the popularity of sightseeing and hiking in the area.



  • Synergy Middle School will open in the fall in Southwest Austin. The new private school will serve 24 sixth-grade students. Children will take classes at the “home base” at The Art Garage, located at 11190 Circle Drive, Austin.
