Dripping Springs ISD’s board of trustees delayed a vote July 22 on the creation of a bond oversight committee to supervise activities associated with the 2014 and 2018 development bonds currently funding district construction projects.

Superintendent Bruce Gearing first announced his intention to facilitate the creation of such a committee at a May meeting, including guidelines for the committee’s composition: nine members, with Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Scott Drillette serving as district liaison.

Prior to the board’s July 22 meeting, the district had already posted a call soliciting applications for committee membership on the DSISD website, describing the committee’s purpose as being “to review bond expenditures and timelines, review possible scope changes and make recommendations to the Board, make public reports to the Board twice a year, and advise the District on potential future Bond programs.”

The district website lists September 6 as the deadline for community members, including parents and others, to submit applications for bond oversight committee membership, as well as membership to other advisory committees during the 2019-2020 school year.

During a brief discussion of the agenda item at the July 22 meeting, Gearing cited the absence of board president Carrie Kroll and board member Shannon O’Connor as reason to postpone the vote until August. The board members present voted unanimously to delay their full discussion and vote on the issue until the next meeting of the trustees.
