San Marcos City Council awarded a $1.17 million contract to Aaron Concrete Contractors—the lowest qualified bidder—for the reconstruction of East Aquarena Springs Drive on Aug. 20.

The East Aquarena Springs Drive Reconstruction Project looks to improve accessibility and mobility along East Aquarena Springs Drive, according to agenda documents.

The project—which is being funded by the city's general fund—includes the construction of asphalt pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, curb ramps, and storm sewer system along East Aquarena Springs Drive, from the Villagio Apartments to the Country Oaks Apartment Homes, according to agenda documents. Engineering Director Shaun Condor said they will also be adding bike lanes.

The reconstruction project also includes pavement markings and signage along East Aquarena Springs Drive from I-35 northbound frontage road to River Road.


One more thing

Construction is anticipated to last nine months, weather permitting, and the project is anticipated to be completed by summer 2025.
