Plans are in place for a parking lot to be built for La Verde Park at the northeast corner of Burnham and Doherty in Kyle.

Kyle City Council approved the site plan for the parking lot on May 7.

The details

City officials celebrated the completion of La Verde Park, located at 3875 Burnham, in November.

According to agenda documents, the parking lot will have 131 parking spaces, including five accessible spaces that are Americans with Disabilities Act compliant. The parking lot will have additional space for electric vehicle charging stations and will provide sidewalks along Doherty and Burnham.

The cost

The parking lot will cost approximately $1 million to construct, City Manager Bryan Langley said.

Funding will come from Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2 and was approved by the TIRZ 2 board in 2023.

Quote of note

Langley noted the parking lot will help facilitate the growth of Kyle's brick-and-mortar district as well as future development in that area.

"As we begin to have special events and larger gatherings, we need to have parking in the brick-and-mortar district so it doesn't interfere with the other businesses and residents that live in that area," he said.

What else?

Langley said they hope to have the parking lot completed by early October.
