All but four of the candidates appearing on the Nov. 8 ballot will participate in the Round Rock ISD board of trustees election candidate forum set for 7:30-10 p.m. Oct. 25 at Kalahari Resorts and Conventions.

Candidates Maryam Zafar and Joshua Billingsley, running for Places 3 and 5 respectively, have since pulled out from their races, but will still appear on the ballot. Place 1 candidate Yuriy Semchyshyn and Place 5 candidate Stefan Bryant will not be in attendance due to previous commitments.

The RRISD board of trustees will see five seats decided in the Nov. 8 election. Both a regular election and a special election were called in August with Places 3, 4, 5 and 6 going to the voters as part of the board's regular election cycle and Place 1 being decided in a special election following the departure of former Trustee Jun Xiao in June.

The Round Rock ISD Council of PTAs, the Round Rock Chamber and the Austin Chamber of Commerce are partnering to host the forum, which is open to the public, and will be moderated by Community Impact founder and CEO John Garrett.

Candidates will address multiple topics of community interest during the forum, including curriculum strategy and student success; workforce readiness and economic development; educator employment and retention efforts; finances, budget and debt servicing; needs and resources for families and community partners; role and outcomes of the RRISD school board; and safety in schools.
