Roadwork is underway at the Pecan Street and SH 130 frontage road intersections for improvements related to the upcoming Amazon facility. The intersection enhancements are expected to be completed prior to Amazon's targeted August opening.
Construction work began in the spring and will widen westbound and eastbound lanes on Pecan to add additional lanes with a total of six lanes planned. Right-turn lanes will be added at the SH 130 intersection in addition to a median installed in front of Sunlight Near Way.
The project was incorporated into an economic development performance agreement between the Pflugerville Community Development Corp. and Amazon, with a sticker price of nearly $452,000. Construction work on the upgrades is expected to be completed in July.
The intersection improvements are part of several projects underway related to the distribution center. Additional roadway enhancements include an innovative intersection design at Pecan and FM 685 as well as median improvements along Pecan between FM 685 and SH 130. The projects aim to address turn movements, traffic flow and signal timing along the Pecan corridor, per city documents.
