Following Tanner Rose's resignation from Hutto City Council, former Hutto mayor Debbie Holland will fill Rose's seat until the general election in May.

In a 4-2 vote, council appointed Holland to Place 6 at its regular meeting Jan. 20.

The remaining two council members voted for Todd Robison, who currently serves as director of purchasing for Hutto ISD.

Holland has served several terms on city council and was elected the city's mayor in 2011, a position she held until 2016. Currently, she serves on the Keep Hutto Beautiful Foundation's board of directors.

"[Holland] understands a lot of the issues that we're dealing with right now," Mayor Mike Snyder said. "She has more experience serving on this dais than each one of us combined."

According to Snyder, Holland has indicated that she has no intention of running for office in May.
