Here are a few things to know this week for people living in Northwest Austin:

1. As the Oct. 11 deadline to register to vote in the November election approaches, several registration-related events take place this week. Austin Community College hosts a voter registration rally on Tuesday to help residents update their voter information. The rally is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the ACC Highland Campus, 6101 Airport Blvd., Austin. Also on Tuesday, the League of Women Voters Austin Area partners with the Austin chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Texas to host an event offering voter registration and information to people with visual impairments. The event takes place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Criss Cole Rehabilitation Center, 4800 N. Lamar Blvd., Austin.

2. The Texas Department of Transportation is taking public comment through Oct. 4 on its Central 7-mile Comprehensive Project, also known as the Central7 project, which aims to fix traffic congestion problems on I-35 in Austin.

3. Round Rock ISD hosts two forums on its plan to redraw some of its middle school attendance areas. The events take place Wednesday at Chisholm Trail Middle School and Thursday at Walsh Middle School. Both are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in the schools’ cafeterias.

4. Domain Northside celebrates the opening of its new development with a two-day event that starts Friday. The development includes a new Restoration Hardware design gallery, Archer Hotel Austin, Second Bar + Kitchen, a 127,000-square-foot Nordstrom and a plethora of restaurants, bars and service businesses in the Rock Rose district.

5. The first weekend of the Austin City Limits Music Festival starts Friday, which will bring an influx of out-of-town visitors to the city. Here's some information for residents who plan to partake in the event or want to avoid traffic and road closures.
