Here are a few things to know this week if you live in Southwest Austin:

1. Austin City Limits Music Festival starts this weekend, which means music, out-of-towners and of course, traffic. Residents can plan ahead to partake in the festivities or avoid road closures.

2. A South Austin high school land purchase vote previously discussed as a possibility is not included on this week's Austin ISD board of trustees meeting agenda. A vote could be scheduled for the board’s October meeting.

3. There is less than a month left to register to vote in the November elections for presidential candidates as well as local races including Travis County Sheriff, Travis County Precinct 3 Commissioner, the AISD board of trustees and the city of Austin's mobility bond. Austin Community College is holding a voter registration rally on Tuesday to get residents' information updated.

4. Local restaurant Satellite...Eat Drink Orbit in Circle C is renovating its patio and making a few other changes this fall.

5. Austin City Council Member Ellen Troxclair, who represents District 8 in Southwest Austin, recently said she wants the city to rethink the way it spends hotel occupancy taxes.

6. The Texas Department of Transportation is taking feedback from the public on its 7-mile plan to fix the traffic congestion problems plaguing I-35 in Austin. Among the improvements planned as part of the approximately $550 million-$850 million project spanning I-35 from Riverside Drive to US 183 include adding express lanes, one in each direction; lowering or raising the mainlanes downtown; and bicycle and pedestrian enhancements.
