Leander ISD Superintendent Bret Champion will host the State of the District event Feb. 5 to inform the public about LISD's growth during the past year and discuss what is to come in the future.

LISD has more than 36,000 students and is expected to gain another 20,000 students in the next 10 years, according to LEEF, or Leander ISD Educational Excellence Foundation.

The event will include networking at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon and Dr. Champion's address from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 RM 620, Austin. The event is open to the public and tickets may be purchased for $25 per person on LEEF's website.

Proceeds from the event benefit LEEF's college- and career-readiness programs such as dual-credit textbook scholarships and Advanced Placement scholarship exams. LEEF is a nonprofit that aims to improve academic outcomes for LISD students. LEEF's initiatives include focusing on early literacy, teaching grants and professional development and college- and-career readiness for students.
