Construction on a $1.6 million roundabout project at Cheek Sparger and Jackson roads in Colleyville could start in June, the City Council was told by staff at its March 5 meeting.

The city would like to finish the project before school starts next fall.

The single-lane roundabout is planned with a dedicated right-turn lane on the northbound Central Drive portion (Jackson becomes Central after the intersection).

A study by engineering firm Burgess and Niple shows traffic piles up on Cheek Sparger Road at that intersection during peak hours in both the morning and the evening.

A small portion of the project is in Bedford, but Colleyville is covering the cost, the council was told.
