An 18-month construction project on West San Antonio Street between Krueger Avenue and Spur Street is set to begin Monday, May 18. The project is a joint effort between the city of New Braunfels and New Braunfels Utilities to replace water and sewer lines while rehabilitating the roadway. Closures and roadwork will take place across three phases, according to information provided by the city. Phase 1 will involve the section of W. San Antonio Street between Krueger Avenue and West End Avenue. The roadway is expected to be closed for three to five months and a detour will route traffic to Katy Street. The second phase will close W. San Antonio Street between West End Avenue and Hidalgo Avenue. Phase 3 will close the road between Hidalgo Avenue and Spur Street. The city's fiscal obligation for this project will be $2.4 million provided by the 2013 and 2019 bonds. Pesado Construction out of Schertz business will be the contractor.
