The city of New Braunfels is now accepting applications for the 2024 class of New Braunfels City University, a free program that gives residents a first-hand look at the inner workings of their city government.

The program started back in 2011 and has since then graduated over 360 participants, according to a news release.

The 2024 City University is an 8-week program held weekly on Thursdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Each meeting will give participants insight in how the city functions and how services are provided through demonstrations, presentations and tours.

A graduation ceremony will be held prior to the city council meeting on May 13 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., according to a news release.


Program requirements are as follows:
  • Must be at least 17-years-old
  • New Braunfels resident
  • Resident of New Braunfels extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ
