Georgetown residents will consider a ballot proposition Nov. 2 of whether to allow the sale of alcoholic and mixed beverages throughout the city, including in Wolf Lakes Village.

City Council called the election Aug. 10 after the city received a petition July 11 to address the inconsistencies of alcohol sales within the city. The petition required 10,436 signatures for council to call the election. City secretary staff validated 10,455 of the 11,000 signatures acquired by the petition.

Early voting for the Nov. 2 election will be Oct. 18-29.

Georgetown residents and H-E-B representatives launched the petition June 7, which intends to apply a 2010 voter decision that allows the sale of alcoholic beverages, including mixed beverages, within city limits to areas that have been annexed since then.

Wolf Lakes Village is a 164-acre master-planned community that will be located on the corner of I-35 and West University Avenue just north of Wolf Ranch Town Center. The development will include an Ascension Seton medical office building, mixed-use residential and commercial retail and office spaces, townhomes and a few single-family homes. The new H-E-B would be located on University Avenue between I-35 and Wolf Lakes Drive.
