Leander is in the process of developing a Parks, Recreation and Open Space Comprehensive Plan to guide parks and recreation development in the future.

The city held a public workshop Aug. 28 to solicit feedback on what types of features and facilities could be included in the city’s parks.

Attendees had the opportunity to suggest ideas for current and future parks as well as participate in a dot activity: placing stickers on images of different park facilities they would like to see in Leander. Examples included water recreation opportunities, public amphitheaters and sports fields.

Paul Howard, a planner and urban forester with Burditt, said the next step is to determine how to address the feedback gathered at the workshop and other public meetings through potential parks projects, such as new facilities or renovations to existing city facilities.

Howard said he expects the comprehensive plan to be adopted before the end of the year.
