1. Huston-Tillotson University and Dell Medical School at the University of Texas are partnering to screen the critically acclaimed docu-reality series “Our Journey Alive” pilot on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The series follows domestic violence victims from Austin and Waco. The free screening, held at the Dickey-Lawless Auditorium at 900 Chicon St., will be followed by a panel discussion about the myths and truths of surviving domestic violence and sexual abuse and best way to address survivors' needs. Business at Brentwood-area brewpub Black Star Co-op, 7020 Easy Wind Dr., Austin, is looking up after starting the year disappointingly with historically low sales. The brewpub, which is owned and operated by member-owners and investors, put out a letter calling for support from its member-owners, and the call was received, resulting in the business's highest sales last week. Community Impact Newspaper sat down with one of Black Star's employees Thursday and learned that as the demand grows again, the staff is looking for long-term solutions to fix Black Star's problems, including slow service. 3.  The Plaza Saltillo project is heading to City Council at the end of the month for approval. The mixed-use development in East Austin is asking the council for a zoning variance in order to build. Here are five things you need to know about it. 4. The city offices in Austin will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Trash, recycling and yard trimmings collection for Austin Resource Recovery customers will remain on schedule. All recreation centers, library branches, senior centers, museums and cultural arts centers will be closed on Monday, but all city golf courses and pools, including Barton Springs Pool, will be open. A Martin Luther King Day festival and march will take place starting at The University of Texas campus, moving to the Texas State Capitol and ending at Huston-Tillotson University. The march begins at 9 a.m. 5. The Downtown Austin Alliance is looking for a restaurant operator to fill a space in downtown Austin's Republic Square once it opens following renovations next fall. The renovation at Republic Square will transform the park into a community gathering space, which will include a counter-service restaurant, a farmers market and seasonal film screenings. Interested restaurateurs have until Feb. 10 to submit an application.
