Magnolia-based Abandoned Animal Rescue names new executive director

Abandoned Animal Rescue named Yvonne Bodley its new executive director, replacing former Executive Director Karen Pitcock, Pitcock confirmed in an email.

Bodley began her tenure as executive director Jan. 1 and said she has been a volunteer with the organization for nearly 10 years.

“I am thrilled to be starting this new chapter with the most amazing organization,” Bodley said in an email. “We have an incredible group of volunteers but can always use more, which is why I want to focus on recruiting and retaining new volunteers.”

Bodley also said building new donor relationships, maintaining relationships with donors, and educating the community about the need for spaying and neutering are among her goals as executive director.

Pitcock said she served as executive director for four years.

“My favorite fundraiser is our A Night in the Dog House event,” Pitcock said in an email. “This is where 20 volunteers spend the night in a kennel, with a dog, to raise funds for AAR. In the last five years, this event has brought in $350,000 for the animals, which is truly amazing.”

Pitcock said she is grateful for the opportunity to serve as executive director.

“My heart is with this organization,” Pitcock said. “I cannot imagine volunteering any place else.”
