The YMCA of Greater San Antonio on June 29 announced the retirement of Sandy Morander as the YMCA of Greater San Antonio’s president and CEO, effective in December.

According to the press release, Morander joined as president and CEO in 2011 and has a total of 38 years in the industry.

During her 11 years of service at the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, Morander has been involved in many significant accomplishments, including expansion of the YMCA, facilitating partnerships and new programs, and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the Northeast San Antonio Metrocom, Morander helped make a partnership with the city of Schertz on the first indoor aquatics center in the area, and a partnership with the City of Cibolo, opening the Cibolo Family YMCA, the Cibolo Youth Sports Center and the Cibolo Miracle Field Project.

According to the release, the YMCA of Greater San Antonio will name a new CEO by the end of the year after a formal process and consideration of local, regional and nationwide candidates.
