The city of Cibolo on Dec. 14 acquired 18 acres of parkland following an agreement with the owners of the Warbler Woods property.

The background

On Nov. 14, Cibolo City Council authorized the city manager to enter a sales agreement with Marguerite Anne Bonnes to purchase parkland for an amount not to exceed $854,460.

The parkland is 18 acres located at the corner of Dean Road and Old Wiederstein Road.

During the Dec. 12 meeting, City Council approved an amendment to the agreement allowing the property owner to name the future park.

The chosen name for the park will be Schaezler Park, named after the Schaezler family and their dedication to preserving nature since 1950. The city will also fund the installation of a historical marker for the park.
