Public Theater of San Antonio is performing “The Pajama Game,” a musical based on the post-world war novel “7 1/2 Cents,” which explores union activism and accompanying social challenges of the 1950s.

Briscoe Western Art Museum is hosting 300-plus new works of painting, sculpture and mixed media by 80 of the country’s leading contemporary Western artists through May 7. Works are also available for purchase online.

The Amazing Acro-Cats, a troupe of trained domestic house cats, will present feats of daring, followed by a performance by the all-cat band Tuna and the Rock Cats. Some ticket proceeds will benefit the San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition.

Valero Texas Open, the PGA Tour’s third-oldest tournament in its 101st year, will feature 144 of the world’s top professional golfers as they compete for their share of an $8.6 million purse at TPC San Antonio. Several Texan professional golfers, including Terrell Hills’ own Jimmy Walker, are slated to play.

The Community of Automotive Professionals will present CarFest SA, a family-friendly showcase of cars, that will include live music, food trucks, drinks, a barbecue cookoff, a marketplace, pet adoptions, a Friday night “cruise-in” and more. Additionally, 25 cars will be repaired on-site for community members in need nominated by local nonprofits.

Local dignitaries will be on hand for the grand reopening celebration of the Central Public Library, which underwent $3 million in renovations including updates to the library lobby, circulation area, the addition of an art walk on the first floor and a revamped third floor children’s area. San Antonio World Heritage Office will present "Viva Poesía: Palabras, Música, y Cultura" at the Mission Marquee Plaza. The ninth "Viva Poesía" event this year is called “For Reels! A Poetic Tribute to the Movies,” in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the historic Mission Drive-In. It is also an official kickoff event for National Poetry Month in San Antonio. There will be local spoken word artists, make-and-take art activities and interactive workshops, vendors, food, and more.
