The development, which broke ground in 2022, will feature housing, schools, parks and commercial areas across its 2,000 acres near I-35.
What we know
The $3 million Fairway Park, one of several planned public spaces, is set to open in early 2025, said Thad Rutherford, CEO of SouthStar Communities, at a Nov. 18 special City Council meeting.
The park will include an 18-hole disc golf course, a bicycle pump track, and trails connecting to over 300 acres of green spaces, Rutherford said.
The development, according to Rutherford will also include:
- Housing: single-family homes, rental properties, and middle-income housing
- Education: an elementary school opening in August, with a middle school to follow, both accessible via trails and parks
- Commercial spaces: Midtown Mayfair will feature 8 acres of retail and local businesses integrated with parks and trails.
Looking ahead
Fairway Park is slated to open in early 2025, while the first school will open later that year, with Midtown Mayfair’s commercial spaces are expected to follow in 2026, Rutherford said.
Timeline adjustments may occur as the project progresses.
