The July 1 episode of The DFW Breakdown discusses the impact a new magnetics manufacturing facility will have on Fort Worth’s economy, the dangers fireworks present to drought conditions in the area and more news from across the metroplex.

Wildfire risk is high amid drought

Dallas County is currently under a 60-day burn ban. High temperatures and a lack of rain have created dry conditions, running from abnormally dry in Garland and Ricihardson to severe drought in Cedar Hill and Irving.

With many residents planning on using fireworks during Fourth of July celebrations, local officials are concerned about the potential for wildfires in the area. Dallas County Fire Marshal Robert De Los Santos advises residents to attend local firework shows and urges caution to those who plan to use pyrotechnics.
