Josh Frank opened the first iteration of Blue Starlite Urban Drive-In in 2009, at a time when Austin felt like it was full of possibilities for an artist with an idea.
"It still felt like a toy town; it still felt small. It still felt like, well, like you could open a 12-car drive-in in an alleyway in East Cesar Chavez [Street], and maybe people would come. And they did!” Frank said.
On the Oct. 21 episode of the Austin Breakdown podcast, host Olivia Aldridge stops by Blue Starlite's Mueller location for a conversation with Frank about how far the business has come since debuting in that alleyway over a decade ago, with the backdrop of Blue Starlite's "Haunted Drive-In" Halloween screenings.
Plus, stay tuned until later in the episode for a conversation with Community Impact's Austin City Hall reporter Ben Thompson about the mayor and City Council races set to appear on local ballots ahead of early voting, which begins Oct. 24.
