The Hire Local Plan intends to narrow skills gap

Since December, Austin’s unemployment rate has returned to pre-pandemic levels and job growth has exceeded norms. However, this quick economic recovery has created a skills gap, which is generated from a mismatch between the skill level job seekers have and what employers of well-paying jobs are looking for.

Workforce Solutions Capital Area intends to reverse this trend by providing training and certification programs to local workers through the Hire Local Plan. Melanie Flowers, Chair of the Board for Workforce Solutions Capital Area, shares the details.
