Upcoming projects
Project: The road will be widened to four lanes from Moorlynch Avenue to Weiss Lane in Pflugerville. The project also includes the construction of four roundabouts and pedestrian improvements, according to the city.
Update: The city’s transportation team submitted plans in June to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to ensure the project won’t worsen flooding in the area. The first round of comments is expected back in October.

Lakeline Boulevard shared-use path
Project: A 10-foot-wide paved shared-use path is planned along Lakeline Boulevard in Cedar Park between New Hope Drive and Little Elm Trail to improve pedestrian and bicycle connectivity.
Update: The city filed paperwork for the project with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Design is 90% complete. Plans have been revised to modify an existing roadway bridge rather than construct a new pedestrian bridge, with final design and permitting ongoing.
Timeline: expected construction spring 2027- spring 2028
Cost: $10.5 million

Ongoing projects
Bee Cave Parkway and Bee Cave Road pedestrian improvements
Project: Bee Cave Parkway and Bee Cave Road will undergo pedestrian improvements including the construction of signals, crosswalks, sidewalks and ADA curb ramps.
Update: The final package of design documents will be completed in August.
Timeline: Construction is expected to begin in March 2027.
Cost: $1.06 million

Spicewood Springs Road Regional Mobility Project
Project: The project includes widening the two-lane road in Austin into a four-lane road with left-turn bays, creating two water detention ponds and pedestrian and bicycle shared-use paths, and improving the storm drain system, water transmission and wastewater lines.
Update: An Aug. 11 update from the city stated that weather-related delays throughout the spring and summer had pushed the project's substantial completion from late 2026 to summer 2027. Starting in September, work will be underway on shared-use pathways on both sides of Spicewood Springs Road, and crews will continue to work on rain gardens and paving travel lanes this fall.
Timeline: 2023-27
Cost: $31 million

Completed projects
Project: A new two-lane roadway was constructed alongside the existing road from CR 254 to CR 289 in Georgetown.
Update: The road opened for drivers Aug. 24. The county is working to rename the new portion of road.
Timeline: early 2025-summer 2026
Cost: $20.8 million
Funding source: Williamson County road and bridge fund
I-35 Capital Express Central: MLK Jr. Boulevard Bridge Segment
Project: The project included reconstruction and widening of the MLK Jr. Boulevard bridge over I-35 in Austin, adding sidewalks, shade structures, a safety barrier, and rebuilt I-35 entrance and exit ramps in both directions.
Update: The bridge is now fully operational, as two lanes reopened in each direction in early August. Crews are finishing shared-use paths and wider sidewalks this month.
Timeline: October 2024–August 2026
Cost: $34.4 million (part of the $4.5 billion I-35 CapEx Central budget)
