In addition to the race for Houston’s next mayor and several seats on the Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees, several amendments to the Texas Constitution will be on Nov. 5 ballots. A total of 10 propositions will allow voters to vote on a range of issues.
Two propositions relate to recovery from natural disasters. Proposition 8 would create an infrastructure fund for the Texas Water Development Board that would be distributed for flood projects. Proposition 3 would give the state Legislature power to temporarily lower tax rates on property damaged during disasters.
Other propositions include Proposition 4, which would ban the creation of a state income tax, and Proposition 5, which would allocate all revenue from the state’s sporting goods sales tax to protect natural areas and water quality at state and local parks. For a full list, visit www.votetexas.gov.
