West Lake Hills voted unanimously to select Lone Star Paving for repairs included in the roadway maintenance package No. 1 during an Aug. 14 meeting. The roadway maintenance package includes a pavement mill and overlay on Ox Eye Trail and Forest View Drive, a small repair on Ledgeway West and pavement edge repairs on Westlake Drive. West Lake Hills received three bids from applicants starting Aug. 12, and Lonestar Paving was recommended by City Engineer Vicki Ortega. The proposal is around $280,000, which is $100,000, or 50%, higher than the city engineer's initial estimate, according to Ortega. Lone Star Paving was the lowest bidder out of the available contractors. According to Ortega, the original estimate was calculated a year ago using the best available data which is no longer up-to-date. Estimates are driven by the economy.
