The Fulshear City Council approved a policy change proposed by City Manager Jack Harper to increase the dollar threshold for purchase authorization from the council at their Tuesday night meeting. The council also unanimously accepted an update from Johnson Development on the status of the Cross Creek Ranch subdivision.
Harper said he is updating city policies to reflect that of a home-rule chartered city and one of the policies that is being changed is the purchasing policy. Prior to last night’s unanimous vote approving the threshold change, purchases of $25,000 or more had to be brought to city council for approval, Harper said. That threshold has now been increased to $50,000 with Harper having authority to approve any purchases less than that amount.
“It’s just to streamline the process, especially as we continue to grow and move forward,” Harper said.
The council also accepted an update regarding the Cross Creek Ranch development. The subdivision is capped at no more than 9,000 residential housing units. Todd Hamilton, development manager for Cross Creek Ranch, said the subdivision should not reach that number of residential units. He said he expects that number to be somewhere between 6,000 and 7,000 units.
The next Fulshear City Council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. and will take place at the Irene Stern Community Center located at 6920 Katy Fulshear Road, Fulshear.
