The newly constructed southbound to northbound U-turn bridge at the Slaughter Creek overpass on I-35 is slated to open tomorrow, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Transportation.
Construction of the U-turn is part of a larger project aimed at improving mobility, safety and connectivity along Austin's I-35 corridor. Other features of the Slaughter Creek overpass project include a widening of the bridge, as well as the southbound frontage road to two lanes through the Slaughter Creek intersection. Safety lighting will also be installed from Slaughter Lane to Onion Creek Parkway, the release stated.
The remainder of the $9.2 million project, funded through the voter-approved Proposition 1, is expected to be complete by the end of the month, weather permitting.
