FM 1097 widening

The Texas Department of Transportation broke ground in July on a project to continue the expansion of FM 1097 between I-45 and Hwy. 75 in Willis. Crews will widen the roadway from two to four lanes and add a continuous left-turn lane starting from the portion of FM 1097 just east of I-45 that narrows into two lanes. The project includes new sidewalks. Construction is about 73 percent complete.

FM 1488 overpass

A project to widen FM 1488 from two to four lanes from FM 149 to just past Community Road has reached 64 percent of completion. The project also includes construction of a railroad overpass on FM 1488 near the FM 149 intersection over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks, making it possible for commuters to cross the railroad tracks without interruption.

FM 149 repairs

TxDOT sent an FM 149 repair project out for bids in February. The project will repair a segment of roadway between the south Montgomery city limits line and Keenan Cut Off Road. The work includes a base repair, new asphalt overlay and construction of shoulders along the roadway. The project is expected to start three months after contracts are approved and take about eight months to complete after construction begins.

FM 3083 railroad overpass

TxDOT has undertaken a project that will widen FM 3083 from two to four lanes and build a bridge over the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks east of Hwy. 75 in Conroe. The agency has already widened FM 3083 in a separate project from I-45 to the starting location of the overpass bridge. The project has reached 33 percent completion and is expected to take about two years to finish.

Hwy. 105 improvement project

The city of Conroe started construction on a Hwy. 105 improvement project Oct. 10. The project will add a raised median throughout the roadway from I-45 to Frazier Street. The median will limit left-hand turns to designated intersections for transit safety purposes. Construction includes sidewalks on each side of the roadway. The project is 43 percent complete.
