According to unofficial results, John Keating is leading the race for the Place 1 seat on Frisco City Council with 45.7 percent of the vote, or 2,009 votes. Brandon Burden is following behind with 18.6 percent of the vote, or 816 votes.
Because no one candidate secured more than 50 percent of the votes, Keating and Burden will enter into a runoff election, which will take place March 25.
"We've been in a runoff before; we know what it takes to win," Keating said. "We'll come back and win this thing. We'll come back and wrap it up."
Burden could not be immediately reached for a comment.
Here are the unofficial results for the other candidates:
- Stacy Plummer: 3.6 percent of the vote, or 157 votes
- Damon Vinci: 2.7 percent of the vote, or 117 votes
- Hal Thomas: 3.9 percent of the vote, or 172 votes
- K.D. Warach: 11.3 percent of the vote, or 495 votes
- Dan Stricklin: 3.7 percent of the vote, or 161 votes
- John Redmond: 2.3 percent of the vote, or 103 votes
- Stanley Wang: 8.3 percent of the vote, or 364 votes
