The Austin-based Tex-Mex restaurant Chuy's opens inside The Parke shopping center in Cedar Park today.
The Cedar Park location kicked off its opening with a charity event Jan. 30, with proceeds going to the sMiles4Sammy Foundation, which provides support to families in Pediatric Palliative Care or Pediatric Hospice in Central Texas. Chuy's officially opens its doors at 11 a.m.
The iconic Tex-Mex restaurant has been in Austin for more than 34 years. While diners can expect the same atmosphere they would experience at the five existing Chuy's locations, Eric Anderson, the local owner and general manager of the new location, said the Cedar Park restaurant will have its own unique touches.
Anderson, a resident of Leander for 13 years, has worked as a manager at the five Austin locations. He said for a long time he has wanted the Cedar Park community to have its own Chuy's.
"It'll be great to be part of the community, it's really thrilling," he said.
The Cedar Park location will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. The restaurant will offer happy hour drink specials and an unlimited build-your-own nacho station, which is served out of the trunk of a classic car, weekdays from 4-7 p.m.
