Big decisions made in 2016
- Planning for facility projects
A committee of citizens and district employees worked together to recommend $208 million in facility projects that could end up in a future bond package.
- Hiring two principals
Mike Landers was selected to serve as principal of Walnut Grove Elementary School, and Janet Blackwell was selected to serve as principal of Rockenbaugh Elementary School. Both have prior experience serving as assistant principals.
Top issues for 2017
- District looks at potential bond
CISD officials said it is likely trustees will call a bond election in early February resulting in a May election. Potential projects include a new performing arts facility, field turf and classroom additions at each of the five elementary schools.
- Becoming a district of innovation
CISD will explore becoming a district of innovation to allow more flexibility and local control in decisions that will affect students in the district.
