Repairs to replace a water line in The Woodlands will require the closure of one southbound lane of Grogans Mill Road at Woodlands Parkway beginning Jan. 3. The project is expected to be complete by late April and may also require the closure or modification of some turn lanes at the intersection to accommodate the construction, according to the San Jacinto River Authority. The construction is necessary to repair the 30-inch diameter water line—which has been in service for less than two years—that experienced two ruptures over six months. It is not common for a new water line to experience ruptures, and SJRA officials said they intend to recover the repair costs once the responsible parties are determined. Water service to customers in the area will not be interrupted because existing water wells will be used to maintain full service during repairs. For construction updates, visit www.sjra.net/grp.
