As crews continue work to expand a major thoroughfare along the Allen-Fairview border, the two municipalities are partnering to expand a key intersection at Stacy Road and Greenville Avenue.
The Allen City Council on Tuesday authorized the city manager to enter an agreement with the town of Fairview to fund the intersection improvements, which are expected to tack on an additional $213,500 to the Stacy Road project.
The project will add intersection lanes and modify the traffic lights to reflect the lane additions, according to city staff.
Under the agreement, the city of Allen would fund $122,000 in pavement costs, roughly two-thirds of the pavement total. The town of Fairview would pick up the tab for the other third of pavement costs totaling $66,000.
The two municipalities would split equally the $25,500 in design expenses.
The City Council also approved an Allen Economic Development Corp. resolution to issue $11.8 million in bonds to refund existing debt, as well as another $6.1 million in bonds to fund land acquisition.

The City Council also moved forward with development regulations, a concept plan and building elevations for the proposed WatchGuard Video headquarters.
The police video-system manufacturer plans to move from its current facility south of Allen City Hall to an undeveloped tract northeast of Exchange and Andrews parkways. The $46 million, 200,000-square-foot facility would house as many as 700 employees when completed.
