The Williamson County Institute for Excellence in Nonprofits hosted its fifth annual Leaders of Excellence Program on Tuesday at the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce event center.
The event included an overview of WCIEN’s 2016 accomplishments, which include serving 35 area nonprofits with coaching and facilitation services as well as training sessions.
The program included a presentation by Quality Texas Foundation CEO Mac McGuire about becoming a performance excellence superhero.
“The silver bullet in life is being a positive, passionate and caring person,” McGuire said.
Quality Texas Foundation is an organization helping businesses, hospitals, schools, government agencies and nonprofits to improve performance.
WCIEN’s mission is to help leaders of area nonprofit organizations learn organizational skills to increase performance.
McGuire said there are five things people must have and do to be successful in nonprofits: a positive attitude, effective communication, trusting relationships, future planning and thinking, and keep improving.
During his presentation, McGuire said it was important to stay engaged and have a motto.
WCIEN also recognized the Ride On Center for Kids, or ROCK, and its CEO and founder Nancy Krenek for receiving the Quality Texas Foundation Pioneer Level Recognition.
ROCK provides equine-assisted therapies and activities for children, adults and veterans with cognitive, emotional and physical challenges. Its clients range in age from 2 to 88 years old and come from throughout Central Texas, including Bell, Travis and Williamson counties.
