Custer Road improvements Frisco has had ongoing construction on Custer Road, which was extended into Plano on Aug. 12. In Plano, the far left-turn lane at Custer Road and SH 121 will shift left, making the second left-turn lane an additional through lane. Once complete, the intersection will have a dedicated right lane, three through lanes and one left-turn lane. The median will be reduced in size to complete this project.

Downtown brick pavers and pavement repairs Contractors are workingTransportation Updates on replacing the brick pavers at the intersections of A) 14th Street and K Avenue, B) Municipal Avenue and 15th Street, and C) 15th Street and I Avenue. Drivers can expect daytime lane closures.

Timeline: September-December Cost: $1.15 million Funding source: city of Plano

Coit, Custer Road intersection improvements Projects to improve the intersections of A) Coit Road and 15th Street, B) Custer Road and Plano Parkway, and C) Custer Road and the President George Bush Turnpike is expected to begin in December. When complete, the intersections will feature double left-hand turn lanes in both directions at Coit Road and 15th Street and at Custer Road and Plano Parkway. The project will also extend the southbound left-turn lane on Custer to eastbound PGBT.

J Avenue Parking improvements Construction is expected to begin soon to create 50 additional parking spaces along J Avenue between 12th and 14th streets in downtown Plano. The spaces are intended to add to the area’s existing parking stock.

Preston Road, President George Bush Turnpike intersection improvements Transportation Updates Construction on this project began in October, but it is currently on hold for utility relocations. When complete, the intersection will feature an additional southbound right-turn lane on Preston to westbound PGBT, as well as an additional southbound left-turn lane on Preston Road onto PGBT.
