SUNSET VALLEY–City Council heard an update Nov. 15 on the city’s project to add low-water crossing gates at areas that have flooded heavily in the past.

Council approved $45,000 in fiscal year 2014-15 for the project, according to city documents. The city has had the gates and installation equipment since June but met with residents to gather feedback before installing them.

There has been increased concern  and negative feedback from residents about the project, according to Sara Wilson, who led the presentation to City Council. Residents objected to proposed gate locations, with some opposing the installation  of the gates at any location. Council did not vote on the item at its meeting. The project does not have a set start date, Wilson said.
