Here are 5 things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands. 1. Days after Montgomery County did not release any voting results from the Nov. 8 election until 11:30 p.m., the county announced plans to resolve this issue in the future. The hold-up in the vote tallying can be attributed to mail-in ballots, according to the county judge's office. This year, more than 15,000 ballots were sent out which is a 50 percent increase from 2012. In the future, the county plans to release early voting results around 7 p.m. and better train staff on expediting the receipt of mail-in ballots, according to the county judge's office. 2. In case you missed it, three new members were elected to The Woodlands Township board of directors last week. Brian Boniface, John Anthony Brown and Bruce Rieser were elected to positions 2, 3, and 4, respectively. Incumbent Gordy Bunch was also re-elected for a third term. 3. The Woodlands Ice Rink will open Saturday in its new home at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Event Center. Ice skaters can enjoy holiday lighting, a new state-of-the-art sound system, seating areas and concessions. For more information, visit www.thewoodlandtownship-tx.gov. 4. Several new restaurants are on track to open by January in the back of The Woodlands near the FM 1488 and FM 2978 intersection. The Brooklyn Cafe will open a second location at 6606 FM 1488, Ste. 100, and Sub Zero Ice Cream and Yogurt will open in Ste. 110. 5.
