Incumbent Republican Michael McCaul is running against Democratic candidate Tawana Cadien and Libertarian candidate Bill Kelsey. McCaul has served six terms as a congressman. Republican candidate Troy Nehls takes early lead with 52.84 percent/109,806 votes while Democratic candidate Michael Ellison has 47.16 percent/98,008 votes
Republican Troy Nehls is running for re-election against Democratic challenger Michael Ellison in the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s race. In a Q&A last month, the candidates discussed their qualifications for holding office and their priorities if elected.
Nehls is running for his second term as sheriff while Ellison, who has worked in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, is running for his first term. Oct. 15 campaign finance reports showed Ellison had outspent Nehls and received more contributions.
