Collin College will host a panel discussion on the global impact of oppression at three different campuses in October. The panel discussion will focus on how certain organizations deal with the problem of abuse and oppression of women, including immigrant women in America and in developing countries. The discussions are a part of the college’s annual campaign to raise awareness and inspire action on issues of violence and oppression of women. The college’s Dignity Initiative will sponsor the event. The dates and times of each discussion are as follows:
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Oct. 25 at the Central Park Campus conference center, 2200 W. University Drive, McKinney
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Oct. 27 at the Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano
  • 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m., Oct. 27 at the Preston Ridge Campus conference center, section E, 9700 Wade Blvd., Frisco
The panelists for the discussions held at Spring Creek campus and Central Park campus will include Hind Jarran from Texas Muslim Women’s Association, Brooke Jones from Stronger Than Espresso and Andrea from I Will Stand International. The panelists at Preston Ridge campus include Rachel Bzostek, Collin College political science professor and a Homeland Security agent.
